Washington Road Trip: What Do Oysters and RVs Have in Common?

Belfair State Park! This summer, we were lucky enough to grab a camping spot at Belfair State Park and join our friends for a post-July 4th celebration.  What a unique location.  Nestled at the tip of the Hood Canal, this park offers water activities, views and plenty of shellfishing.

This park has good facilities with full RV hookupsView from Belfair, plus dry camp sites.  There are three loops, Beach Loop, Tree Loop, and the Main Loop.  We stayed in T28 on the Beach Loop and had close access to the beach.  If you want the best spot, choose from one of the pull through sites right along the beach like T27, T30, T31 or T32.

With shallow waters and a lack of waves, the beach water at Belfair State Park was warm and my kids loved playing there and going for a swim.  Just be sure to bring slip on water shoes for the whole family, it is rocky.  The dramatic tide change also offers great exploring opportunities and wildlife watching.  While the tide was out one morning, we encountered two bald eagles enjoying an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet.
