Lake Easton State Park, Snoqualmie Tunnel, and the John Wayne Pioneer Trail

One of our favorite close to home locations for a quick getaway is Lake Easton State Park.  This park, located just east of the Snoqualmie Summit ski area, has fantastic facilities, full RV hookups, camp sites, and amenities while also being located close to miles and miles of great hiking trails.  Nestled along the bank of Lake Easton, the park offers a great variety of water activities including fishing, swimming, and boating (although high-speed water activities are not recommended due to under water tree stumps).  The last time we were there, we took our small inflatable raft out on the lake and had a great time with the kids.  In addition, there was a local person renting paddle boards for those interested in getting out on the water.

Lake Easton State Park is great for those traveling with kids.  There are plenty of nearby grassy areas, a charming sandy beach area with awesome views, and a nearby play-park for the kids to blow off some steam while the parents relax.  In addition, many of the RV sites are located in a forest setting, making you truly forget that you are less than 1 hour away from Seattle.  While most of the sites offer good locations, spots # 31, 33, 35, and 37 offer the best views of the beach area and lake and are among our top choices when they are available.
