Travel to Twilight!!

I am excited about our final beach trip of the summer to La Push, WA.  We visit every year and it is one of our favorite places to visit in Washington.

La Push is a great family destination.  We always go in August for better chances of warm weather.  We continue to stay at Quileute Oceanside Resort and love the proximity to the beach – literally a 20 second walk.  The resort has two sides for RV sites.  The older larger side and the newer side.  We prefer the newer section.   Have friends or family that want to join your time in La Push but they don’t have an RV?  Quileute Oceanside Resort has cabins and a hotel as well!

The beaches around La Push are beautiful.  Directly by La Push is First, Second, and Third Beach.  First Beach is adjacent to the resort.  Second and Third beaches are a short hike through the forest and offer more amazing views.  Plus there is Rialto Beach where I have seen the best [Read More…]

Weekend Getaway Exploring Wenatchee and Leavenworth

Our weather in the Pacific Northwest has been nothing short of amazing. Perfect time to hook up the trailer and head out on a road trip. This time we drove east of the Cascade Mountains to explore the Wenatchee area.

Our basecamp was the Wenatchee River County Park, or WRCP. Love this place. WRCP has a great facility with easy access from State Highway 2 in Monitor, Washington. Laid out like a park with large lawns for spreading out and plenty of room for the kids to run. My favorite loop is [Read More…]

Washington Road Trip: What Do Oysters and RVs Have in Common?

Belfair State Park! This summer, we were lucky enough to grab a camping spot at Belfair State Park and join our friends for a post-July 4th celebration.  What a unique location.  Nestled at the tip of the Hood Canal, this park offers water activities, views and plenty of shellfishing.

This park has good facilities with full RV hookupsView from Belfair, plus dry camp sites.  There are three loops, Beach Loop, Tree Loop, and the Main Loop.  We stayed in T28 on the Beach Loop and had close access to the beach.  If you want the best spot, choose from one of the pull through sites right along the beach like T27, T30, T31 or T32.

With shallow waters and a lack of waves, the beach water at Belfair State Park was warm and my kids loved playing there and going for a swim.  Just be sure to bring slip on water shoes for the whole family, it is rocky.  The dramatic tide change also offers great exploring opportunities and wildlife watching.  While the tide was out one morning, we encountered two bald eagles enjoying an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Getting to California – RV Road Trip: Six States in Three Weeks Series

This was our first time heading out on a trip this long – three weeks.  One day, trips like this will be more frequent, once the kids graduate college and my husband retires.  But right now, I will take what I can get!  🙂  I have to admit I was nervous and excited at the same time.  All the ‘what ifs’ were running though my mind.  Then I remembered.  We are in our RV.  We can be flexible.  That is the beauty of RV travel and camping.

Our first day on the road, we drove from outside of Seattle, Washington to Grants Pass, Oregon.  What a beautiful drive.  We drove about 430 miles that day Moon Mountain RV Resortand stayed overnight at Moon Mountain RV Resort.    This RV park is about 55 miles north of the California and Oregon border.  It was the perfect pit stop for us.  Moon Mountain is a nice and quiet little RV park with 24 of the 55 sites being pull through.  Great for our overnight stay at $37.  It was very clean and well maintained with several amenities like laundry, full-hook ups, Wi-Fi, cable, self-check in and on-site propane.  This park is open all year long.  My only complaint [Read more…]
